Congrats to the Winners…It’s OVER!

May 7, 2014

Thank goodness, the Primary is over.

It was a tough battle for Dave Griffith and Mark Baker.  I am thankful that we have such fine upstanding men in our county who were willing to stand up for conservative Christian values.  With Griffith facing a well known incumbent and Baker facing an opponent with high name recognition, it was a heated battle until the very end.  Both Griffith and Baker had dedicated teams that worked almost around the clock.  The Teamwork exhibited was inspiring and edifying.

As predicted, Clif Kilby turned out to be the spoiler in the sheriff’s race.  He was the most effective player in the Schatzman camp and can be proud of helping Forsyth County remain under the leadership of the incumbent.

Sadly, both Dave and Mark were out voted but we had some conservative winners too.  Even though we lost Irene May, a fine and principled anti-Common Core school board member, we managed to keep Jeanne Metcalf, Dana Caudill-Jones, and Lori Clark.  Other conservatives who deserve a big hand are Joyce Krawiec and Ted Kazakos.

I can’t tell if the US Senate race ended in a runoff between Thom Tillis and Mark Harris or a win for Tillis.  There were so many glitches in the reporting of the results.  I will say this, I have never, EVER seen such dedicated volunteers as those behind Harris and Brannon.  You guys earned every single vote through blood, sweat, and tears.

{UPDATE} WXII called the race with 100% reporting around 8:30.  Turned out their information was INCORRECT.  Likewise, until after midnight early May 7, the BOE was reporting Harris in 2nd place with 31% while consistently reporting Brannon in third in the low to mid 20’s.  The final results on US Senate where Tillis 44%, Brannon 27% and Harris 18%.  Explain to me HOW the numbers can be that off all night.

The explanation has been, the BOE is using a new system for the first time.  Patti Curran, activist, said it best when discussing the new system, “I think Karl Rove paid for it.”  The BOE needs to get it together.  Also, we need the precinct map.

Onward to NOVEMBER…

Before I close, share a time out with me in God’s word.  My May 6 Bible study included Scott Cumby’s great study outline as well as Luke 9 and 10.  It was perfect for this momentous day.  I invite all to pick up the WORD and leave the world behind for a moment.  Below are verses that really spoke to me.

LUKE 10….
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

Isaiah 46
    I am God, and there is no other;
    I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
    from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
    and I will do all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
    from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
    what I have planned, that I will do.
12 Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted,
    you who are now far from my righteousness.
13 I am bringing my righteousness near,
    it is not far away;
    and my salvation will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion,
    my splendor to Israel.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has
blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in
Christ Eph 1:3
I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me
wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we desired of you:
for you have now made known to us the king’s matterDan 2:23.   Amen
