(2010) CHANGE and the Same Old Racist NAACP Take to the Streets

On October 30, 2010

Reported in the Winston Salem Journal October 30 edition, leaders of Communities Helping All Neighbors Gain Empowerent (CHANGE) were unaware of yesterday’s release of a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)  flyer and press release.  Conservative Republican school board candidates Jeannie Metcalf, A.L. “Buddy” Collins, Donny Lambeth, Jill Tackaberry, Marilyn Parker, and Jane Goins were called racists and segregationists.

According to their article, Daryl Hunt, the director of the state NAACP’s Antideath Penalty Project claimed the flyer was not “inflammatory” and did not promote racial hatred.  In the same article, CHANGE strategist, the Rev. Susan Parker claimed no responsibility for the flyer or NAACP actions.

Participating in the march of less than 100 people was State Representative Larry Womble (D-71).   Seen mingling in the crowd are school board candidates Jim Toole (D) and Elisabeth Motsinger(D).
