Proud to Prove an American Heritage

By Sandra Robles

Speaking as the wife of a Hispanic looking husband, amnesty supporters have it all wrong. They say “It’s not fair”, or “profiling is racist.” Every authentic citizen Latino will be stopped, questioned, and harassed. Oh the horror of being Hispanic in America! The bleeding hearts refer to “rounding up” illegal aliens as if 57% of Americans had suddenly turned into the Gestapo rounding up Jews.

Well hear this. Anyone who knows my husband agrees…he looks either Mexican or Taliban. He is neither. His parents were American citizens before England ever settled this country. He is an ORIGINAL citizen. He is an American Indian.

Do you think he will feel “harassed” if a police officer asks for his identification? NO. Do you think he will be “offended” or “feel profiled” if at a road block or on the job he has to prove who he is? NO. Do you think that his skin or hair color or the brown of his eyes will cause him to be questioned more than his blond haired, green eyed wife? NOOOOOOO.

Why you say? Well…let me tell you. He had to prove who he was when he enrolled in public school. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he played sports on a little league team. I didn’t play little league. He had to prove who he was when he enrolled in college. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he got his driver’s license. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he applied for his job. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he got his first social security card. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he married me. So did I. He had to prove who he was when he had children. So did I.

Let’s look at this from a daily perspective. My husband has to prove who he is when he writes a check or goes to the bank. So do I. He has to prove who he is if he ever rolls through a law enforcement road block. So do I. He has to prove who he is to get on an airplane. So do I. He has to prove who he is to see his doctor. So do I. He has to prove who he is to get a loan or talk to the phone company or check his credit records. So do I.

Every American citizen must PROVE who they are! How is it now, since EVIL Arizona passed a tough illegal immigration law, that somehow proving one’s identity is harassment and unconstitutional?

Are legal citizens of Hispanic descent ashamed or scared or offended when they are asked for identification? No. Why is it that the only ones “offended” are either illegal OR politically motivated to be “offended.”

Does the media have you convinced that ALL HISPANICS are offended by the Arizona type defense of America’s immigration problem? Think again. Watch this video.North Carolina should be so brave.
